MOSSEL BAY TO MOZAMBIQUE
What can be said about being part of the 19th STRAB festival in Ponta Malongane, Mozambique? Well, to sum it up: WOW! Imagine smiling faces, walking barefoot in the sand, happy camping, best of the best music, long slow walks in solitude on beautiful clean beaches… oh yes and great food too.
Albert Meintjes and I hit the road on 16 May 2023 with our first stop at the village of Nieu-Bethesda, at the foot of the Sneeuberge. We were welcomed with warm hospitality. The next morning we took off to a town called Burgersdorp and played in the Tennis Club, which, very creatively, doubles as a theatre called Kreatief. We had a full house! Off to Centurion next with shows at Dowe Digters, Railways Café, teaming up with amazing artists such as Akkedis Band and The Black Cat Bones for diverse line-ups. We made a (quick) detour through the Kruger National Park on our way back to Pretoria for a few more shows and finally made it home, to Mossel Bay. What else can be said, I simply cannot wait for the next visit to Moz!

GOODBYE TIGER HELLO RAT
The documentary arises out of a book by the same name, published in 2004 by Jann Bader with the third edition reprinted in 2019. Filming and writing took the author and the director across the breadth of South Africa, into countries in Central, West and East Africa, and even as far as Borneo and Madagascar. Goodbye Tiger Hello Rat is a documentary on the evolution in modern times. The theme song performed by Tanja Storm is now available for download and streaming too. NEW SINGLE: TOO TIRED
My 3rd lockdown single, Too Tired has just been released. Now streaming on digital platforms with a home-made video available on YouTube. Too Tired was written in 2019 and only recorded days before South Africa went into lockdown. The timing was off and release was held back a bit until things started picking up again. So go have a listen, if you’re not too tired ;-)

COLLABORATING FROM ALL OVER THE SOUTH AFRICA, WHILE STAYING HOME.
Recently, Tony Drake posted a challenge on Facebook in which I participated. He sent 16 bars of chords to friends and colleagues, and challenged them to write lyrics and melody to fit. Then he added them all together. The response was enthusiastic, sporting, and diligent. This is the second song/video of what could hopefully become a series. Watch video

WAITING FOR YOU
New song release: 20 April 2020
This song was written in 2019 and finally just days before the lockdown started in SA, I took a trip to BlueRoom Studios to track this baby.
I am adding this song to YouTube so that it is easily accessible to everyone (as some of you don’t use digital platforms such as I-tunes, Spotify, Deezer, etc) and also easy to share (please do).
The photo I used for the simple lyric video was taken by Steve DElboux in a photo session at Super Veloce. These photos were used to promote the Inland Blues Tour with Gaston Lehmann, which was scheduled in March - April but had to be cancelled due to the current lockdown.
Out of the songs recently recorded I felt that this laid-back, easy listening love song is ideal to be released now, as it can also deliver a deeper message - seeing that many of us are actually waiting this “thing” out; waiting to see our loved ones again. Anyways… have a listen?
Special thanks to Jo Ellis, Christian Burgess and Charlie Winter

COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
ANNOUNCEMENT 16 MARCH 2020
All packed and ready to go!?
It is with a heavy heart that I am to inform that the #InlandBluesTour with Gaston and myself is hereby postponed until further notice.
On Sunday 15 March 2020 President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation and declared COVID-19 (Coronavirus) a national disaster and have put some measurements in place for us as South Africans to aid in containing the virus.
We considered the facts and made the decision to do our bit to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus. This way we can give medical institutions a chance to keep up. Please take note that the Inland Blues Tour is not cancelled, but POSTPONED until further notice.
Wishing you all a safe time during this bumpy ride ahead.
South Africa is currently under LOCKDOWN. Read more on COVID-19 at sacoronavirus.co.za
